Scott Fisher
lead vocals, piano, Wurlitzer, Rhodes, synth
Born in Portland, Oregon to a French diplomat family, Fisher’s
upbringing included bilingual studies and classical piano training.
While majoring in Philosophy and Political Science at Boston University,
Fisher played in Liquid Sunrise (jam-oriented touring act) and Soular
(jazz-fusion). Upon returning to Portland, he produced his first
solo album “Fleeing Towards Creation.” A gifted
singer, talented pianist and exceptional songwriter, Fisher’s
influences include Herbie Hancock, Steely Dan and Paul McCartney.
Now based in Los Angeles, he tours extensively with his four-piece
band.
Matt Voth
electric and upright bass, vocals
A native of West Virginia and a true "journeyman"
bassist, Voth’s facility ranges from Americana to jazz fusion.
He demonstrates the poise and mastery that comes from his many studio
recordings and extensive road work throughout the US and Europe.
A key creative partner, Voth’s musical wisdom and understated
vocal harmonies bring ballast and inspiration to the project. He
channels the influences of George Porter, Jr. (The Meters), John
Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and James Jamerson (legendary Motown
player) to lay a dynamic foundation for Fisher’s contemporary
songs.
Bob Dunham
electric guitar
A Portland native, Dunham made waves with Burlington, Vermont's
hip-hop/acid-jazz act Belizbeha, selling over 20,000 albums. Dunham’s
old-school, blues-jazz guitar expertise is updated with contemporary
sensibilities while mining the classic soul sounds of his vintage
50’s & 60’s guitars and amps. Some of the influences
he brings to this band — ranging from Mark Knopfler to Steve
Kimock to Steve Cropper — come across in his expressive solos
and distinctive rifts while his overall tasteful playing pairs beautifully
with Fisher’s piano-driven pop.
Josh Yafa
drums
LA-based, Yafa’s versatile percussion complements the breadth
and depth of Fisher’s songwriting. Yafa trained with Tom Donlinger
(Van Morrison, Jerry Garcia) and Casey Scheuerell (Jean-Luc Ponty,
Chaka Khan), later honing his distinctive style playing for Jack
Johnson and jamband road dogs, ALO. His organic approach evokes
Billy Martin, while he creates a deep, texture-rich groove that
freshens the pop medium. Yafa joined the band in 2003, completing
the current Scott Fisher sound. |

There
are strikingly few musicians anywhere who can set thoughtful
lyrics to catchy melodies, then deliver the combination
with a stunning degree of artistry and prowess. Fisher
sings with the passion of Sting and plays piano with
the athleticism of Billy Joel.

Fisher’s
songwriting is a consistently effective pop mix that has
a generous helping of jazz and funk inflections, making
his act the perfect complement to an artist such as Jack
Johnson. Top 25 Demos of 2004,

Our
goal at the Olympics was to promote French culture and
language. We wanted a modern French/American sound, someone
shiny, innovative, creative and sexy. Scott fit our needs
perfectly. Gregorary Douet-Lasne

Scott
Fisher is a stunning new talent...There are moments of
70’s style funk, dizzyingly snaky jazz-rock fusion,
an occasional twist of electronica. Fisher knows how to
borrow from a wide range of eras (Steely Dan, Frank Zappa,
Moby, Elton John, Julian Snow) to create something truly
unique. Andre Hagestedt

Fisher live is Scott up front, center stage, surrounded
by keyboards and other assorted electronic paraphernalia
masterfully commanding audience attention, working the
quiet storm dynamics, projecting effortless, natural stage
presence that compliments the music. The secret weapon
is the band, whose musical personalities add subtle counterpoint
successfully broadening the humanity of the presentation.
It’s refreshing to see a musical unit that pulls
it off with such interpersonal harmony and musical cohesion.

Scott
Fisher stands out as a huge talent. His piano playing
is top-of-the-line. His songwriting is consistently strong.
He displays a knack for a hook and an uncanny ability
to fuse memorable melodies. A hint of Lennon, a wisp of
McCartney, a touch of Billy Joel. Glimmers of Radiohead,
Elliott Smith, Coldplay, Ben Folds, David Gray. All the
pop piano masters, in their ways, to be sure. SP

Scott
has it all - a great voice, excellent piano and organ
skills, an innovative song writing style, and a fantastic
ear for arrangement. We aren’t afraid to drop the
comparisons to John Mayer or Norah Jones ... I have full
confidence that he can end up being the next big thing.
